Thyāgarāja

Thanks to my Telugu speaking friends, I realised how wrongly I was saying the words and splitting the lines of the thyagaraja krithis, solely to decorate the line/word with ‘sangathis’. This triggered a beautiful journey for me, to know the context of thyagaraja krithis. The very talented composer-musician Dr. Raghu (ALL INDIA RADIO) casually dropped few seeds in my mind giving insights on his perspective to thyagaraja. My paternal grandmother also used to hum thyagaraja krithis in her pooja. I owe my journey to all of them.

All of these laid the foundation for me to start a series of videos, solely for the purpose of archival and enabling learning of the language from the krithis themselves, for me and interested learners. One way to do that was to make the meaning available in simple English in all my videos. Another interesting way was to recite the lyrics like a dialogue.
